Safeguarding Statement

Safeguarding Statement

This safeguarding statement explains The Huddle Approach’s commitment to safe, responsible and professional work with schools, pupils and education professionals. Safeguarding is central to any service that supports children, young people, staff teams and school communities.

The Huddle Approach provides movement-led inclusion support, training, consultancy, digital resources and licence-based materials for schools.

Our work is designed to support positive relationships, regulation, confidence, inclusion and better outcomes for pupils.

Our Commitment To Safeguarding

The Huddle Approach is committed to promoting the safety, welfare and wellbeing of children and young people.

We believe every pupil should be supported in an environment where they feel safe, respected and able to participate.

Our safeguarding statement reflects our commitment to:

  • Safe and appropriate professional conduct
  • Clear boundaries when working with schools
  • Respectful communication with pupils and staff
  • Responsible handling of safeguarding information
  • Prompt action where concerns are identified
  • Working in line with school safeguarding procedures

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.

Working With Schools

The Huddle Approach works with schools, trusts, SENDCos, senior leaders, teachers and support staff.

When working with a school, we expect the school to remain responsible for:

  • Its safeguarding policy
  • Its designated safeguarding lead arrangements
  • Risk assessments
  • Pupil information
  • Parental communication
  • Staff supervision
  • Behaviour and inclusion policies
  • Any statutory reporting requirements

The Huddle Approach supports school practice. It does not replace the school’s own safeguarding systems.

Movement-Led Inclusion And Safe Practice

Our approach may include movement-based activities, regulation strategies, practical school support, staff training and resource guidance.

Movement-led inclusion should always be delivered safely, with appropriate supervision and suitable planning.

Schools should consider:

  • Pupil age and stage
  • SEND needs
  • Medical needs
  • Emotional regulation needs
  • Physical environment
  • Staffing levels
  • Behaviour risks
  • Individual support plans

Activities should be adapted to the needs of pupils and the setting.

Professional Boundaries

The Huddle Approach expects professional boundaries to be maintained at all times.

This includes:

  • Communicating appropriately with pupils, staff and families
  • Avoiding unnecessary one-to-one contact with pupils
  • Working within agreed school procedures
  • Using appropriate language and conduct
  • Respecting confidentiality
  • Reporting concerns promptly

Any work involving pupils should be agreed with the school and delivered in line with school expectations.

Safeguarding Concerns

If a safeguarding concern is identified during training, consultancy, resource work or school support, The Huddle Approach will act appropriately.

This may include:

  • Reporting concerns to the school’s designated safeguarding lead
  • Recording relevant information clearly
  • Sharing information where necessary
  • Escalating concerns if a child may be at risk of harm
  • Contacting appropriate authorities if required

We will not ignore safeguarding concerns.

Information Sharing

Safeguarding information should be shared carefully, proportionately and only with people who need to know.

Where schools share information with The Huddle Approach, they should avoid providing unnecessary identifiable pupil data unless it is required for the support being requested.

If safeguarding information is shared with us, it will be treated seriously and handled responsibly.

In some situations, safeguarding duties may require information to be shared even where consent has not been given.

Online Resources And Digital Licences

The Huddle Approach may provide digital resources, downloadable materials or licence-based support for schools.

These resources are designed for education professionals.

They should be used alongside:

  • School safeguarding policies
  • Behaviour policies
  • SEND procedures
  • Risk assessments
  • Professional judgement
  • Relevant statutory guidance

Digital resources should not be used as a substitute for direct safeguarding action where a child is at risk.

Staff Training And Consultancy

Our staff training and consultancy support is designed to improve confidence, consistency and inclusion.

Training may cover areas such as:

  • Regulation
  • Movement-led support
  • Relationships
  • Behaviour as communication
  • Practical inclusion strategies
  • Whole-school consistency
  • Support pathways for pupils

Where safeguarding themes arise, schools should apply their own safeguarding procedures and seek advice from their designated safeguarding lead.

Safer Working Expectations

The Huddle Approach expects anyone delivering services on its behalf to act professionally and safely.

This includes:

  • Following agreed school visitor procedures
  • Respecting school safeguarding rules
  • Wearing identification where required
  • Working in appropriate spaces
  • Avoiding inappropriate communication
  • Reporting concerns without delay

Schools should ensure any external visitor arrangements are managed through their normal safeguarding systems.

Parents, Carers And Families

The Huddle Approach may support schools with strategies that help pupils feel regulated, included and ready to learn.

However, schools remain responsible for communication with parents, carers and families unless otherwise agreed.

Any concerns raised by parents or carers should be handled through the appropriate school process.

Equality, Inclusion And Respect

Safeguarding includes creating respectful, inclusive environments.

The Huddle Approach aims to support pupils in ways that recognise individual needs, strengths and barriers.

We believe support should be:

  • Respectful
  • Inclusive
  • Practical
  • Consistent
  • Relationship-led
  • Appropriate to the pupil and setting

No pupil should be treated unfairly because of disability, SEND, race, religion, sex, background or any protected characteristic.
